For anyone in need of some serious tweets, the Federal Reserve Board may be the answer.
On Wednesday, the Board launched its first Twitter channel -- @federalreserve – with the hope of boosting the accessibility of its news.
Tweets will start with news releases, speeches, testimony, reports to congress and other bulletins.
However, the Board’s website remains its first place to post news; tweets of selected announcements will follow.
The step is the latest in the Fed’s efforts to be more transparent, which Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke began a year ago with his news conferences that follow meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee.
