If Old Spice was making an ad about the class action that was just filed against it, rashes would appear underneath Terry Crews' armpits and sprout tiny Terry Crews heads that sang "Pa-pa-pow-pow-POW-pa-POWER!"
Indeed, a new class action lawsuit against the makers of Old Spice claim that the deodorant has left users with rashes and burns on their skin.
The suit claims that the deodorant, made by Proctor & Gamble, "causes rashes, irritation, burning and other injury to unsuspecting customers." Those users also were "economically damaged," according to the lawsuit, because "they are forced to discard the product after only a few uses."
The class action, which isn't yet certified, was filed by Rodney Colley, a Virginia man who claimed he suffered severe rashes, burning and discomfort after using Old Spice deodorant. The complaint included photos of what he said are angry rashes in his armpits and cited other complaints and photos found on social media sites.
“The safety of the men who use Old Spice is the foundation of everything we do. We go to great lengths to ensure our products are safe to use, and tens of millions of men use this product with confidence and without incident every year," Procter & Gamble spokesman Damon Jones said in a statement. "A small number of men may experience irritation due to alcohol sensitivity, a common ingredient used across virtually all deodorant products. For men who have experienced a reaction to a deodorant, an antiperspirant may be a better option because they have a different formulation.
